Vintage Tajima Ushi Wooden Doll

A vintage Japanese folk craft representing Tajima Ushi, the native cattle of the Tajima region in Hyogo Prefecture. Made from layers of carved wood, the figure is decorated with woven straw, braided rope, a small metal bell and hand-painted details. Its naïve construction and carefully assembled elements give the piece a particularly expressive character.
