Red Lobster Incense Container
Japanese ceramic incense container (kogo) in the shape of a lobster, crafted by Tosai.
Finished in a vibrant red glaze, the piece features a beautifully sculpted body with intricate details, from its segmented shell and folded legs to its distinctive long antennae and small black eyes.
The upper section can be removed to reveal a small compartment, traditionally used to store incense during Japanese tea ceremonies. The interior features a contrasting golden yellow finish.
In Japanese culture, lobsters symbolize longevity and good fortune, making this piece both a decorative object and a traditional ceremonial accessory. Accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box.
These are older pieces and may show signs of age, scratches, surface marks or use consistent with their history.
