Mother of Pearl Upcycled Shorts by Banbogi Studio

Inspired by the intricate beauty of Korean Najeonchilgi lacquerware, these shorts reinterpret a centuries old craft through contemporary sportswear. Each pair is hand embroidered with recycled mother of pearl buttons, creating a shimmering surface that recalls the iridescent inlays traditionally found on Korean lacquered objects.
 
As part of an upcycling project, existing garments are transformed by hand, giving them a new identity while extending their lifespan. No two pieces are exactly alike, making each pair a one of one expression of craftsmanship, sustainability, and cultural heritage.
