Keisuke Serizawa Katazome Fans

A rare set of three original uchiwa fans designed by Keisuke Serizawa, one of the most influential figures of the Japanese mingei movement. Created using traditional katazome stencil dyeing techniques, each fan reflects Serizawa’s unmistakable visual language: bold compositions, rhythmic geometry, and a refined balance between utility and art.
 
Crafted from bamboo and hand dyed paper, the set features three distinct motifs ranging from abstract geometric patterns to vessels and botanical imagery. Their vibrant yet restrained palettes embody the warmth, clarity, and everyday beauty that defined Serizawa’s work throughout the twentieth century.
