Bizen Ware Sculptural Teapot by Kakurezaki Ryuichi
¥105,000Price
Hand built in the Bizen tradition, this teapot features a powerful faceted body with an integrated hinged lid, blurring the boundary between vessel and sculpture. Fired at high temperature without glaze, the surface reveals deep iron rich tones, natural ash deposits, and kiln born textures characteristic of Bizen ware.
Both functional and sculptural, the piece reflects Kakurezaki Ryuichi’s radical approach to form and material, emphasizing weight, raw clay, and presence. Irregularities and firing marks are inherent to the process and central to the work’s character. This piece comes without its original box.
Kakurezaki Ryuichi is a Living National Treasure of Japan.
