Ainu Couple Wooden Figurines

A charming pair of vintage Japanese wooden figurines depicting an Ainu couple from Hokkaido. Hand carved from birch wood with the natural bark preserved, each figure features expressive facial details, traditional clothing patterns, and contrasting headwear.

The simple cylindrical silhouettes and angular carving reflect the character of Japanese folk craftsmanship, while the natural birch bark gives each piece a distinctive texture.

These are older pieces and may show signs of age, scratches, surface marks or use consistent with their history.
